THE CHOSEN HARAM

Tickets

THE CHOSEN HARAM is a heady mix of love, drugs, and Islam. A physical performance that, with both physical power and almost shy intimacy, explores performer Sadiq Ali’s own experiences reconciling his sexuality and his faith.

Two men meet on a random dating app, and their love takes off. On two poles, they fling themselves around as the story of a life with social and cultural barriers unfolds. About sexuality, chemsex, faith, addiction and connection. It’s an exploration of the personal struggles many people face when their upbringing conflicts with their true identity – and how that can ultimately lead to self-destructive behaviour.

The Chosen Haram is based on Scottish artist Sadiq Ali’s personal experience and interviews with members of the LGBTQ+ community who identify as (ex) Muslims. It is a queer circus performance of gravity-defying tricks told with humour, enthusiasm and a touch of fear.

THE CHOSEN HARAM is curated and presented by CPH STAGE in collaboration with Sort/Hvid and Feral Festival.
