Slavoj Žižek and Nadesjda Tolokonnikova

A reading of a letter correspondance between Slavoj Žižek, Slovenian philosopher and culture critic, and Nadesjda Tolokonnikova, Russian activist and member of Pussy Riot.

While Tolokonnikova was serving a prison sentence for “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” because of a Pussy Riot performance in The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, Žižek and Tolokonnikova  corresponded through letters. Across the prison wall they discuss if political activism still has a function – or whether dependence on natural resources preclude the distancing of human rights violations. Likewise, how it is to be locked up for her beliefs and the personal strength it takes to be prisoned.
