The integration of spatial installation, participatory theater, opera and light is in short excellent. And director Christian Lollike has managed to create a formidable flow between the scenes. I'd love to see more opera in this form ... Information
Great ideas unfold best underground. Efterklang and Karsten Fundal have created an enviable underworld, where sexy corpses lure mortals on a wonderful journey. Seismograf
The music is present all the time. All the abnormal and yet so nearby sounds seem to aspire to create frames just where the organism never have heard music before. Finally there are sensations for kneecaps, for roots, for spine and throat. Weekendavisen

A group of people have hidden beneath the surface. In a cultic universe where unknown forces rule and experiments are performed to obtain eternal life.

The audience is led through a labyrinth bunker. 1000 m2 built during the Cold War, with large metal doors, institutional pastel colors and tiles on the walls. An underground emergency hospital? A refuge for crippled, hopeful souls? A hidden prison?

Each of the underground residents has their own version of life underground.

The composers’ different backgrounds are represented in 11 highly melodic songs where the unruly and heartfelt lyrical universe is woven into an abstract musical space that blends the acoustic and the electronic.

The work spans radically different musical expressions, which will be performed by Efterklang with 8 additional musicians and the five singers: Katinka Fogh Vindelev (soprano, We Like We), Lisbeth Balslev (soprano), Casper Clausen (Efterklang), Nicolai Elsberg (bass, Spillemændene) and Morten Grove Frandsen (countertenor).

LEAVES is composed by Karsten Fundal and Efterklang and directed by Christian Lollike. Lyrics by Ursula Andkjær Olsen and set design by Marie Rosendahl Chemnitz.
