In 2024 it happens again. A small society begins to dance – time is frozen, the whole town is engulfed by a united pulse, everybody seems to be in a dance trance. Now the town gates open for you.
DANSEDYBET invites you into a mysterious society struck by an invincible urge to dance. They dance in protest, to forget, to enjoy, to be part of a community or maybe because there is no future. Perhaps dancing is the last wild trip before we perish. Perhaps dancing is our salvation. Can our bodies dance us free from the constant catastrophes? Is mass hysteria exactly what we need?
DANSEDYBET is an immersive singing and dancing ritual. A story for the body, not the mind. A united feeling of dancing to the end of the world, over the edge and beyond. An opportunity to let go. Inspired by old Nordic rites of passage, chain dance and folk songs, the performance reenacts the legends of the Middle Ages about the dance plague. It stars both dancers and singers. And you. If you feel like it, you are welcome to dance along but we cannot ensure that you will be able to stop again.
