BLACK BOX MUSIC
TicketsWe are happy to present the world-renowned Danish composer Simon Steen-Andersen’s work BLACK BOX MUSIC. The work can be described as both award-winning, internationally acclaimed, and completely insane.
The audience is located where the orchestra usually sits. In front of you is the conductor. Behind you is the orchestra, immersing you in symphonic sound. All you see are the conductor’s hands in a chicken box projected onto a large screen. As in an elaborate puppet theatre, the conductor fences with his hands. At times it looks like he is dancing – at times he throws around balloons and confetti. Of course, the orchestra must play “absolutely perfect,” and the musicians are not allowed to laugh. Fortunately, the audience is. We expect complete craziness.
BLACK BOX MUSIC is composed by Simon Steen-Andersen, performed by Athelas Sinfonietta, conducted by Håkon Stene October 14 and 15. ONLY four times.
The work is part of a sound art festival during the first weekend of the autumn break, where both children and adults are welcome. You can, among other things, experience Thierry de Mey’s piece Musique de table, which is played on and with nothing but six hands and a tabletop or see and not least hear two sandpaper robots go at each other in Steffi Weismann and Özgür Erkök Moroder’s work Touch Amplifier. Your ticket gives access to all of the other pieces as well. Read about the festival here.
The festival is a co-production with Live Art Denmark.
