The program includes performances like the legendary orchestra piece BLACK BOX MUSIC by Simon Steen-Andersen and the concert MUSIQUE DE TABLE played on a tabletop.
LIVE ART FOR CHILDREN is a festival showing international performances, experimental theatre, and participatory live art projects for both children and adults. Each year under a new theme. The focus of 2023 is sound experiences. The festival was held at Sort/Hvid in 2017, and in autumn 2023 we once again open our doors for the entire family.
A programme of four sound pieces is showing twice a day. With one ticket gives, you have access to see all four pieces during one timeslot (see the timetable below).

BLACK BOX MUSIC

Enjoy award-winning composer Simon Steen-Andersen’s legendary work, BLACK BOX MUSIC. Projected onto a large screen you see a giant pair of hands. In real-time the hands conduct the live musicians surrounding the audience. Thus, seated in the middle of the ensemble, eyes on the conductor, you get to feel the concert from the other side of the orchestra pit.

THE SUBLIME PERFUMES OF THE DANCING SCHOOL

BANANA SCHOOL is an open school pupping up at public events with pieces mixing politics and art. In this new piece you are invited to dance with them in an entertaining and new kind of folk dance for people of all ages. Come and dance!

MUSIQUE DE TABLE

Have you ever tried drumming on your tabletop? Now musician and filmmaker Thierry de Mey takes tabletop drumming to new levels. Experience his very special piece written for, and performed on, a wooden tabletop. Nothing else. Three sets of hands produce the distinct wooden tone. With closed eyes you might think, you were listening to a polyphonic piece for percussion. At the concert the hands of the musicians are projected onto a big screen giving the audience the possibility to witness the extreme precision behind every stroke, clap, and knock. It’s time to fall in love with the sound of a table!

TOUCH AMPLIFIER

This piece is performed by two figures dressed as sandpaper robots. As two sets of armour they are ready for battle. But once they touch each other, it happens. The battle becomes music. Microphones enhances every single touch – sandpaper against sandpaper. It is turned into a sound art piece made of the amplified contact, distorted, and twisted to unrecognizability. Who knew how much music is hiding in a piece of sandpaper?
