Manifesto 2083

What made Anders Behring Brevik – a young Norwegian man – put on a police uniform, set off a bomb in Oslo and sail out to the island Utøya on a quest to shoot as many politically active young people as possible? Before the terror attack Anders Breivik sent out a manifesto containing everything from racist propaganda, philosophical reflections and bomb manuals to interviews he conducted with himself together with diary entries.

On the basis of his manifesto the play examines why and how a seemingly well-functioning young Norwegian man could turn himself into one of the most deviating mass murderers and right-wing extremist of our time.

How does Anders Behring Breivik sees himself? What are his views on our society in which he and we live? Is he a part of a new far-right movement, or is he a deviating loner?

MANIFESTO 2083 received the Jury’s Special Award at Aarets Reumert 2013. Here, Christian Lollike also received the award as Playwright of the Year for MANIFESTO 2013 and two other plays.
