I WALK I BLEED

I WALK I BLEED is an interactive musical piece with 10 cellists, composed by Josefine Opsahl.

You are placed in a circle formation, surrounded by glossy shining cellos. The overwhelming sound from the cellos come from all directions of the room.

In a mixture of concert and installation, the audience can influence  what the cellists play via a system of signals. The piece explores the notion of being oneself and part of a group – unification vs. free individual. The classical music tradition’s elitist, untouchable and exalted position over normal humanity is put up for discussion. This piece hands the power of tunes and composition over to the audience in a collective creations process celebrating freedom of speech and co-creation vs. structure and control while placing pop culture and fine culture, mass, and elite, equally.

The flexible musical piece by Josefine Opsahl is brought to live by some of Denmark’s best cellists.

I WALK I BLEED is a part of the opening program for Sort/Hvid Stage for Music Theatre
From 2021 Sort/Hvid is a stage for music theatre. We start off with a big opening program. Two months filled with pieces mixing music and theatre. See the whole program here.
