“AFSKUM’s debut album is the birth of something quite unique on the Danish music scene” wrote Soundvenue about AFSKUM’s debut album from 2023. Now AFSKUM is testing out new material for KLUB KREATUR at Sort/Hvid.

During four days at Sort/Hvid AFSKUM will investigate what happens when his symbolic text universe is mixed with the means of theatre. They will open their experimentarium for the audience on 7th November 2024.

AFSKUM [Scum]. The name reeks of badness. According to the dictionary, “afskum” is a despicable person. AFSKUM sounds like a heavy metal band on the surface. But imagine, instead, keyboard-driven pop songs in minor. ASKUM alternates smoothly between hip-hop, rock, and synthpop. It’s music that flows easily but weighs heavier than the surface of the music reveals.

AFSKUM consists of songwriter and singer Prince Askar and his stories about life as a young person. With him he has August Kulmann Halle as producer. AFSUM released his debut album in 2023 and has, especially, made a name for himself because of the strong intensity and vibrating presence at his concerts. Now he is moving into the theater stage for the first time. With Astrid Gade as director, the storytelling in AFSKUM’s universe is explored with songs that have not yet been released, Prince Askar embarks on a theatrical investigation of AFSKUM: What lies between the heart and the knife?

KLUB KREATUR
Experience AFSKUM as part of Sort/Hvid’s new event KLUB KREATUR where both the bar and the art is open.

Come and have a drink with us and look behind the musical art that we create here in the old slaughter house. At KLUB KREATUR working artists open their laboratories and show the raw, crisp art while it is being created. It is a one-off performative experiment that only happen that one evening.
