The future is made in China – therefore a young Danish woman travels to China with the intention of learning to become Chinese.
China is no longer the Western world’s factory – instead China is leading the way and shapes the world in its own image. China is the direction to look in, if you want to follow the development of new technology, robots, artificial intelligence and aerospace. In large parts of the world, schools, roads and enormous edifices are shooting up with China as a partner. With the strategy MADE IN CHINA 2025, the superpower of China shines as a nation driven by the future.
Director Sigrid Johannesen travels to China to become part of the Chinese future. By her side, she has a Chinese woman who has agreed to teach her how to become Chinese, and soon they are having dinner with the Communist Party…
MADE IN CHINA is based on Johnannesen’s journey. A story about the falling European self-narrative of superiority; in a time where the global balance of power is tilting to the east. It is an attempt to understand China – and the new world.
MADE IN CHINA is a co-production with Aarhus Theater.
