On the Edge
On the Edge (Au Bord) is a text by the French writer Claudine Galea. It is about the female American soldier Lynndie England who became world renowned in connection with the torture scandal in the Abu Ghraib-prison. The text is an examination of who she is, how she could use torture, and what it means to be a woman in a warzone where the masculine community is dominant. The text has been discussed in detail in the French media.
On the Edge is presented in Denmark for the first time and it has won the prize GRAND PRIX DE LITTÉRATURE DRAMATIQUE in 2011.
